What Is Iron Yoga?
Iron Yoga is the practise of Yoga combined with the use of light weights. It incorporates the principles of Yoga – the coordination of body, mind and spirit with the principles of weight training – the connection of mind with muscle. Developed by professional ironman and triathelete, Anthony Carillo in 2001, Iron Yoga has become an important addition to any health and fitness regime, and has become a recognised and highly popular from of Yoga.
A session begins with deep and rhythmic breathing, the most basic principle of yoga, and progesses through a series of uncomplicated, steady yet slow moving yoga style movements using light hand weights. The weights add resistace and stability to the movements and allow the introduction of strength and flexibility exercises. The workout is complete and thorough, and yet very relaxing.
